The Kwara State Government has demoted a teacher, Hajia Hamzat Fatimoh Nike, by two-grade levels for assaulting a youth corps member posted to Government Day Junior Secondary School, Kulende, Ilorin. This decision was made after an investigative panel found her guilty of fighting on duty, using foul language, insubordination, and disrespect for the national identity represented by the corps member’s uniform.

According to a press release issued by the Press Secretary, TESCOM, Sam Bola Onile, the teacher’s behaviour contravenes public service rules. In addition to her demotion, she will be transferred out of her current school and required to undergo counselling sessions.

The Kwara State Government has urged teachers in the state to remain law-abiding and perform their duties in accordance with established procedures. The government will continue to prioritize training on teaching ethics and procedures of service.
