Glowing tributes have been paid to Mrs. Faosat Titilayo Dasuki, who recently retired as the principal of Anifowoshe Community Junior Secondary School after over 30 years of service. She was also the pioneering principal of the school.
Alhaja Dasuki received a series of presentations from the school management, the Principals’ Association (ANCOPSS), the host community (PADA), teaching colleagues, and the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT).
Alhaja Adamoh Baba Sahid, the new principal of the school, made a glowing presentation on behalf of the staff and students. Paying tribute to Alhaja Dasuki for her years of dedicated service, she stated that Alhaja Dasuki was an excellent principal with great communication skills, care, and concern for the uniqueness of each child entrusted to her professional care.
Mr. Abdullateef Tejidini Ahmed, the chairman of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS, Ilorin West), made the presentation on behalf of the principals in Ilorin West. He said that Mrs. Dasuki had worked well with her teaching colleagues and other principals over the decades and had nurtured a cooperative team spirit not only in her school but across Ilorin West. “Her versatility will be missed,” he added.
Making the presentation on behalf of the host community, Mr. Murtala Alowonle thanked her for her years of service in the school and her cooperation with the Parents Association and the host community over the years. Mr. Alowonle prayed to God to be with her in retirement and grant her long life and prosperity.
The Chairman of NUT Ilorin West, who was represented by his treasurer, Mr. Aminullahi Mai-masa, said Alhaja Dasuki remains a golden fish whether in or out of service. He described her as a teacher with extraordinary qualities sent to bless our generation with her knowledge, expertise, and heartwarming care.
Speaking to InsiderNg after the programme, Mrs. Dasuki’s son-in-law, Engr. Musa Surajudeen, said Alhaja Dasuki is a woman of many parts; a mother, a teacher, an administrator, a tutor, a unifier, a unionist, a manager, a mobilizer, a socialite, a facilitator, and an ambassador of peace. He said she may be retired but tired that her expertise and experience would benefit the education sector if the government could further engage her appropriately.
Returning thanks to her teaching colleagues, family members, the parents, and students, Mrs. Dasuki remarked that after over 30 years of service, the time had come for her to bid farewell to one and all. She said she had a wonderful time as a teacher and eventually as the pioneering principal of Anifowoshe Community Junior Secondary School.
“To every beginning, there must be an end. It is time to say farewell to you all. Since I became a teacher in 1991, I have been privileged and blessed to have worked with the best set of people. My sincere appreciation goes to you all. I thank everyone for your support and love over the years. I pray that God will continue to bless you all. To my family, I am very grateful for the love. Thank you all.”
