President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerians to believe in his government, stating that his administration is on the right path to deliver “a glorious dawn” for Nigeria.
Speaking during his maiden Presidential Media Chat in Lagos, Tinubu expressed confidence in his security architecture and defended his government’s economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidy and the controversial tax reforms.
Tinubu emphasized that his government’s reforms, although painful, are necessary for the country’s growth and prosperity. He also blamed organizers of palliative distributions for recent stampedes that resulted in loss of lives, urging them to be better organized and disciplined.
On the economy, Tinubu stated that his administration has met its financial obligations without relying on the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) for funding. He defended the country’s borrowing appetite, arguing that borrowing for infrastructure is not a crime.
The President also passed a vote of confidence on his cabinet, dismissing suggestions to trim its size. He described the proposed 2025 appropriation bill as a “budget of restoration and hope,” adding that the country remains on the path of recovery.
Tinubu concluded by urging Nigerians to be patient with his government, acknowledging that healing the country’s challenges would take time. He expressed optimism that 2025 would usher in economic prosperity and growth, saying “tomorrow will bring a glorious dawn.”
