Kwara State Government, in collaboration with the Office of Human Capital Development in Abuja, held a one-day event on January 29, 2025, to promote human capital development in the media industry. The program, themed “Empowering Minds, Changing Narratives: Advancing HCD through Media and Technology,” aimed to equip media practitioners with the skills to leverage media and technology for human capital development.
Dr. Mariam Nnafatima Imam, Senior Special Assistant to Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Sustainable Development Goals, emphasized the importance of preparing media practitioners to create awareness about human capital development initiatives. She thanked the media in Kwara for their partnership and steadfastness.
Kwara State Commissioner for Communications, Mrs. Bola Olukoju, commended Dr. Imam’s efforts in organizing the event, which aligns with the state government’s policy thrust of advancing digital and technological innovations. Olukoju stressed that media professionals must stay up-to-date with the latest technologies to remain relevant.
Guest speaker Dr. Abdulkadir Oba Laaro advised media practitioners to adapt to the changing media landscape, emphasizing the importance of flexibility and truth in their work.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Kwara, Mallam Abdullateef Lanre Ahmed, appreciated the state government’s efforts in organizing the event and assured that media practitioners would continue to equip themselves with better knowledge.
