Nigeria’s Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, met with a German delegation from the IHK Giessen-Friedberg Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Abuja. The delegation, led by former Minister of Information and Culture Alhaji Lai Mohammed, proposed a collaboration in two key areas: Dual Educational Vocational Programs (DEVP) and legal labour migration.
The DEVP aims to tackle unemployment by providing young Nigerians with skills and practical experience. This initiative is crucial in addressing youth unemployment and restiveness in Nigeria. On the other hand, legal labour migration seeks to ensure a safer working environment for Nigerian youth working in Germany.
Olawande expressed gratitude to Alhaji Lai Mohammed for his efforts in promoting youth development. He also commended the initiative, noting its alignment with the Nigerian Youth Academy’s objectives, which focuses on empowering young Nigerians with knowledge, skills, and mentorship.
The Minister reiterated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration welcomes public-private partnerships for economic growth and development. This collaboration has the potential to create opportunities for Nigerian youth, driving growth and prosperity in the country.
