The Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) has announced that a capacity building training, themed “Upholding Journalistic Standards in the Digital Age”, will take place on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Crystal House, Ilorin GRA, starting at 10am.
This announcement was made in a statement released on Tuesday by Oyewale Oyelola, Secretary of ASKOMP, in Ilorin.
The ASKOMP one-day capacity building training will feature a distinguished lineup of facilitators and keynote speakers. Dr. Sadudeen Abdulrasheed from the University of Ilorin’s Department of Mass Communication and Barrister Olateju, former Secretary of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Ilorin Chapter, will lead the training sessions.
Additionally, the event will feature keynote addresses from esteemed guests, including Kwara State Commissioner for Communications, Mrs. Bola Olukoju, Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, and Police Public Relations Officer of Kwara Command, DSP Ejire Adetoun Adeyemi.
According to Oyelola, the training event is expected to draw a crowd of over 40 members from various online news platforms operating in Kwara State, all under the umbrella of ASKOMP.
He emphasized that the association aims to reinforce journalistic ethics and uphold international best practices, recognizing the need for a refresher course in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
