Work has resumed on the long-abandoned Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) secretariat and media resource center in Ilorin, thanks to the intervention of Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest striker, Taiwo Awoniyi.
The project, which had stalled for years despite efforts by SWAN leadership, received a boost when Awoniyi personally dispatched his engineer and builders to the site. SWAN Chairman, Ayodeji Ismail, expressed profound gratitude to Awoniyi for his commitment to sports development and media support.
According to the Chairman, the completed secretariat will serve as a hub for sports journalism, hosting over 32 sports activities simultaneously, and is poised to become a centerpiece for sports reporting in Nigeria, fulfilling the vision of Kwara SWAN’s founding fathers.
