Radio Kwara’s Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) chapel has elected a new executive committee to run its affairs for the next three years. Comrade Rosheed Okiki emerged as the Chairman, alongside other executives including Comrade John Adewoye as Vice Chairman, Hawa Alimi as Secretary, and others.
The election was held at the Newsroom of the Corporation, and the new executives were inaugurated immediately. Comrade Abduleteef Lanre Ahmed, the State Chairman of the NUJ, emphasized the importance of adhering to the NUJ Constitution and prioritizing members’ welfare. He congratulated the new executives and thanked members for their support.
The General Manager of the Corporation, Alhaji Tajudeen Kayode Aremu, encouraged journalists to maintain professionalism and avoid sensational reporting. He commended the Chairman of the NUJ for his leadership style and advocated for training and retraining of NUJ members to enhance their efficiency.
Comrade Okiki, the newly elected Chairman, appealed to members to unite and work selflessly for the progress and development of the NUJ. He outlined a three-point agenda, focusing on improved welfare, capacity building, and collaboration/partnership.
