Covenant University, a private institution, has emerged as Nigeria’s top university in the 2024 Times Higher Education (THE) Rankings. This prestigious recognition underscores the university’s commitment to academic excellence and research.
The annual THE Rankings, considered one of the most comprehensive global assessments of universities, evaluated data from 1,907 universities across 108 countries and regions. The rankings are based on 18 key indicators, including teaching quality, research environment, research impact, industry collaboration, and international perspective.
Covenant University secured its top spot among Nigerian universities, excelling in teaching and research. Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (ABU) ranked second, followed by Landmark, Omu-Aran, University of Ibadan (UI), and University of Lagos (UNILAG), which rounded out the top five.
University of Ilorin (Unilorin) secured the 10th position.
