The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello a fugitive and issued an arrest warrant for him. This move comes after multiple attempts to apprehend him were unsuccessful, and his current whereabouts remain unknown.
According to EFCC Spokesman Dele Oyewale, Bello faces charges of money laundering, breach of trust, and misappropriation of N80.2 billion during his tenure as governor. Oyewale emphasized the commission’s commitment to bringing Bello to justice, stating, “We are collaborating with local and international law enforcement agencies to ensure his arrest.”
The EFCC has urged anyone with information on Bello’s whereabouts to come forward, warning that he cannot escape the law. “Anywhere he is sighted, he would be arrested,” Oyewale declared.
This development marks a significant escalation in the EFCC’s efforts to hold Bello accountable for his alleged financial misconduct during his time in office. The commission’s determination to bring him to justice underscores its commitment to fighting corruption in Nigeria.
