On Monday, in Ilorin, a former President of the National Association of Kwara State Students (NAKSS), Abdullahi Abdulkadir Wokili, was arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court for alleged criminal offenses.
The charges against him include misappropriation of funds, breach of trust, and cheating, which were allegedly committed during his tenure as President in the 2022/2023 academic session.
The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, acting on behalf of the Attorney General of the Federation, initiated the legal proceedings under Section 174(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), and pursuant to the court’s inherent jurisdiction.
The allegations against the former president, Wokili, include the unauthorized removal of association properties, specifically a Siena bus, Mistubishi Space bus, laptops, and a sum of Five Million Naira (₦5,000,000.00).
Despite multiple invitations for questioning, Wokili allegedly failed to respond, leading to his eventual arrest on June 19, 2024, at the Shonga Durbar Festival.
According to the investigating officer, SC Tunwase Temitope Ishola, Wokili confessed to being in possession of the properties and admitted to the alleged offenses during the investigation. The details of the allegations and Wokili’s reported admissions suggest a serious breach of trust and potential misconduct, which will likely be thoroughly examined in the ongoing legal proceedings.
