In a bid to uphold quality and ensure integrity, the Federal Government has approved an increase in the fees for Nigerian passports. The new fees, effective from 1st of September, 2024 aim to reflect the enhanced security features and improved processing efficiency.
The 32-page Passport booklet, previously priced at N35,000, will now cost N50,000, maintaining its five-year validity. The 64-page Passport booklet, with a 10-year validity, has seen a fee increase from N70,000 to N100,000.
However, Nigerians in the Diaspora will not be affected by this change, as their fees will remain the same.
The government assures citizens that the increased fees will translate to improved services, including enhanced security features, faster processing times, and a more efficient application process.
This move is part of the government’s efforts to maintain the integrity and security of Nigerian travel documents, aligning with international standards and best practices.
