Federal Government Committee has agreed on consequential salary adjustments for workers following the new minimum wage of N70,000.
The agreed adjustments vary by grade level:
– CONPSS 01-06: 80.81% – 64.73% increase
– CONPSS 07-14: 45.59% – 19.35% increase
– CONPSS 15-17: 14.35% – 4.41% increase
The implementation date is set for July 29, 2024. This move aims to address economic challenges faced by federal workers.
The committee has also appealed to the Federal Government to provide measures to alleviate workers’ plight due to the PMS increase, including tax waivers. This is expected to enhance economic wellbeing and increase productivity of federal workers.
Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, inaugurated the 16-member committee to deliberate on issues arising from the National Minimum Wage Act, 2024. The committee’s terms of reference include negotiating and agreeing on consequential adjustments in salaries.
With this agreement, federal workers can expect improved compensation, and the government aims to maintain industrial peace and harmony.
