In a move to foster holistic youth empowerment and job creation, Youth Minister Engr Ayodele Olawande has inaugurated the Technical Working Group (TWG) for the Nigerian Youth Employment Action Plan (NiYEAP). The inauguration ceremony, held at the Radisson Blue Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, brought together key stakeholders, including government officials, private sector representatives, and development partners from organizations such as GIZ, International Labour Organization, UNICEF, and the UN.
The TWG, comprising members from government and development partners, will be driven by the private sector. This collaborative approach is expected to play a crucial role in achieving sustainable youth employment.
The Nigerian Youth Employment Action Plan, launched in September 2021, focuses on four key areas: Employability, Entrepreneurship, Employment Creation, and Equal Opportunity. The plan also highlights key sectors for employment generation, including the digital economy, agriculture, and manufacturing.
At the event, Engr Olawande emphasized the TWG’s role in building a sustainable legacy of prosperity for Nigerian youth. He also stressed the importance of advocating for youth-friendly policies and facilitating the creation of youth-specific job opportunities.
