In a move to support states affected by natural disasters, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the allocation of N108 billion, with each state receiving N3 billion to aid their relief efforts. This announcement comes as a timely intervention, particularly for Borno State, which is currently grappling with severe flooding in its capital city due to the failure of the Alau Dam water channels.
Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, confirmed that his state has received the N3 billion allocation from the Federal Government to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis. The funding is expected to provide much-needed relief to affected communities.
Vice President Kashim Shettima praised President Tinubu’s commitment to disaster management, stating, “The President has shown his zeal, willingness, and commitment to partner with the states towards addressing these issues.” Shettima emphasized the importance of the N3 billion allocation, noting that it ensures “all parts of the federation have a buy-in and belonging” in addressing natural disasters.
This significant funding injection is expected to support states in their efforts to mitigate the impact of natural disasters and provide essential aid to affected communities.
