Dr. Mobolaji Idris Ojibara, a well-known lawyer from Ilorin, Kwara State has been elected as the new General Secretary of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA). He won the position by a significant margin, receiving 25,713 votes, while his opponent, Mr. Abdulwasiu Alpha, secured 11,730 votes.
Meanwhile, the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) has issued a public statement, signed by its Publicity Secretary, Nurudeen Ibrahim, to congratulate Dr. Mobolaji Ojibara on his election as General Secretary of NBA.
The Union is thrilled to see one of its own emerge victorious in the highly competitive contest and views this achievement as an opportunity for Dr. Ojibara to demonstrate his exceptional organizational abilities and promote the esteemed image of Ilorin Emirate.
The Union urges Dr. Ojibara to excel in his new role, leaving a lasting legacy, and expresses gratitude to the NBA members for their confidence in him. The Union extends its best wishes to Dr. Ojibara for a successful and peaceful tenure.
The election also saw Mazi Afam Osiqwe, former General Secretary of the Association elected as the new President. Osigwe emerged victorious in the online voting process, which commenced at midnight on Saturday and concluded at 11:59pm on Sunday, at the NBA House in Abuja.
The election results show that Osigwe emerged victorious, securing 20,395 votes. His closest rival, Erojikwe, received 10,970 votes, while Chukwuka Ikwuazom (SAN), former Chairman of the NBA Lagos Branch, trailed with 9,007 votes.
