IGP Takes Over Kwara Poly Student’s Killing Case

…Orders Transfer of Case File to Abuja

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has ordered the Homicide section of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja to take over the investigation into the alleged killing of Qoyum Abdulyekeen Ishola, a student of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.

The incident occurred on September 4, 2024, and the officers involved – Inspector Abiodun Kayode, Inspector James Emmanuel, and Sergeant Oni Philip – have been identified and detained for investigation.

The IGP expressed deep sadness over the incident and extended his condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased. He assured that justice will be served and that the investigation will be thorough and comprehensive.

The move to transfer the investigation to the FCID in Abuja is seen as a step towards ensuring a neutral and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.
