In a landslide victory, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared the winner of the Kwara State local government and councillorship elections, held on September 21, 2024. The Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWSIEC) made the announcement early Sunday morning, following the completion of results collation.
According to KWSIEC Chairman Mohammed Baba Okanla, the APC secured all 16 Local Government Area chairmanship positions and 193 councillorship seats. The electoral process, which took place across 16 Local Government Areas and 193 wards, saw the participation of five political parties: APC, APM, PDP, SDP, and Accord.

However, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the outcome, citing manipulations, ballot box stuffing, and the use of APC members as KWSIEC presiding officers. Olusola Adewara, PDP’s PRO, condemned the results, stating that the people’s will and voice have been thwarted.
