A summit for community-based organizations (CBOs) is scheduled to hold in Kwara State from August 20th to 24th, aimed at empowering communities to take ownership of developmental processes.
According to Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, Senior Special Assistant on Community Development to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, community ownership guarantees sustainability. He emphasized that while governments have constitutional roles in developing communities, the people must also coordinate their self-help initiatives.
Dr. Olohungbebe called on rural dwellers to support the government in ensuring the summit’s success, stating, “Let’s do this together as we move from Kwara North to the South, then, to the Central. Communities are best-developed by their own indigenous players.”
The summit aims to mobilize community-based organizations to drive development and promote self-help initiatives, recognizing the pivotal role of community players in sustainable development.
