The Kwara State Government has launched a special Holiday Edition of its School Coding and Digital Literacy Program, extending its tech education drive into the second-term break. The initiative, which kicked off earlier this week in select secondary schools, aims to empower young learners with critical digital skills during the vacation period.
Originally introduced in February 2024 across 50 public schools, the program has now been expanded to reach 7,500 students aged 12 to 15 from all 16 Local Government Areas. The Holiday Edition builds on the success of the academic-term rollout, offering hands-on training in coding, digital literacy, creative problem-solving, and innovation in an interactive setting.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq reaffirmed the state’s commitment to youth development through technology, stating that the initiative aligns with Kwara’s vision to foster a digitally fluent generation. “The future is digital, and we are ensuring our young minds are not just consumers but creators in this evolving landscape,” he said.
Participants will engage in practical projects, including website development, basic programming, digital art, and tech-driven storytelling, guided by experienced instructors. The program emphasizes inclusivity, ensuring students from diverse backgrounds can access and benefit from the training.
