Lagos State Government has debunked reports claiming Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu sued the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged plans to arrest and prosecute him after his tenure. The government issued a statement titled “REBUTTAL: SANWO-OLU SUES EFCC OVER ALLEGED PLAN TO ARREST, PROSECUTE HIM AFTER TENURE” to clarify the situation.
This development comes on the heels of Sanwo-Olu’s recent comments on the Federal Government’s lawsuit against governors regarding local government autonomy. The governor stated that Lagos should have been excluded from the lawsuit, as the state’s local governments have enjoyed full autonomy for decades.
Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of judicial reform in improving the administration of justice and making the court the last hope for the common man. He also highlighted Lagos Judiciary’s efforts in protecting the rule of law and setting good examples for other jurisdictions.
