The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kwara State Council, is set to hold its highly anticipated election today. The contest for the Chairmanship position has generated significant interest, with two strong candidates vying for the top spot.
Incumbent Chairman, Lanre Ahmed Abdullateef, is seeking re-election on the platform of “consolidation”, promising to build on his achievements and take the union to greater heights.
His opponent, Abdullahi Dare Akogun, who contested against Abdullateef in the 2021 election, is campaigning on the mantra of “new dawn”, pledging to bring fresh ideas and innovative leadership to the union.
The election is expected to be keenly contested, with members of the union eager to have their say in the direction of their leadership. The outcome of the election will determine the future of the NUJ in Kwara State and shape the union’s activities in the coming years.
The election is scheduled to take place at the NUJ Secretariat in Ilorin, with members expected to cast their votes from morning till evening. The results are expected to be announced later today.
