A former Edo State Commissioner for Education, Gideon Obhakhan has warned Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State to shelve his plans of seeking reelection on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Obhakhan, who’s also the co-convener of the Edo Peoples’ Movement, accused the governor of anti-party activities, and witch-hunting the alleged loyalists of the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole by relieving them of their duties.
Speaking ahead of the 2020 governorship election in the state, the former commissioner advised the governor to formalise the process of his defection to another party.
“The governor’s action is full of anti-party activities geared towards truncating the good name of the party we have built over the years. For we in APC and Edo Peoples’ Movement, we are saying no to Obaseki’s second term.
“The state is in an unfortunate situation today because of one man who is Mr know it all, he is not our candidate. He is APC by name not by blood. If he is planning to decamp to another party all he need, is to formalise the process because we are seeing what is happening. His advisers are doing a very poor job.
“Nobody can intimidate the people of Edo State, for it is our right to make our choice especially at a time like this when the state is in dire need of good dividends of democracy”, Obhakhan said.
