Shehu Sani, former Senator representing Kaduna Central, has appealed to the EndBadGovernance protesters to suspend their nationwide demonstrations and engage in negotiations with the Federal and state governments.
Speaking on the ongoing protests, Sani emphasized that democracy thrives on dialogue and negotiation between the government and aggrieved citizens. He advised the protesters to form a team to dialogue with the government at both federal and state levels, where they can negotiate their demands.
Sani’s call comes after President’s recent speech, and amid ongoing protests across the country, which began last Thursday. The protesters are demanding relief from the country’s economic hardship, including the reinstatement of fuel subsidies, improvement in living standards, reduction in the cost of governance, decrease in electricity tariffs, and solutions to the escalating insecurity.
By suspending the protests and engaging in dialogue, Sani believes that the protesters can effectively push for their demands and work towards finding solutions to the country’s challenges. His appeal aims to promote a peaceful and democratic approach to addressing the grievances of Nigerians.
