In a bid to strengthen its fight against banditry and other security challenges, the Sokoto State Government has donated 20 Hilux vans and 710 motorcycles to the newly formed Community Guard Corps. The presentation ceremony, held at the corps’ state headquarters, saw Col. Abdul Usman (Rtd.), Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, hand over the vehicles and motorcycles to commanders from the 13 local government areas most affected by banditry.

The donation aims to enhance the corps’ mobility and access to remote areas, enabling them to respond swiftly to security threats. Col. Usman emphasized the importance of responsible usage, reminding the personnel that the vehicles and motorcycles are for official use only and require regular maintenance.

This initiative demonstrates the state government’s commitment to supporting the Community Guard Corps in their efforts to combat banditry and ensure the safety of citizens in Sokoto State.
