German Bundesliga star and Super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface, was involved in a car crash on Saturday night, just hours after leading Bayer Leverkusen to a thrilling 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 23-year-old Nigerian international, who scored the winning goal in the match, walked away from the accident with minor bruises. He is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.
A video posted on X (formerly Twitter) showed the extent of the damage to Boniface’s car, with the front passenger side severely impacted.
Boniface took to social media to express gratitude, posting a picture of himself receiving treatment with the caption: “Na so una for hear say my enemy don die” (meaning “You would have thought my enemy was dead”). “Thank you, Lord.”
The accident has sent shockwaves through the football community, but fans and teammates can breathe a sigh of relief knowing Boniface escaped serious injury.
This season, Boniface has been instrumental for Bayer Leverkusen, consistently delivering impressive performances. His recent heroics on the pitch has cemented his status as a fan favourite.
