By: Balogun Tumininu

President Bola Tinubu has made key appointments in the country’s security apparatus, naming Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed as the new Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and Adeola Ajayi as the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS).

The appointments come after the resignation of the previous heads of the two agencies, and are seen as a move to strengthen the country’s security architecture.

Ambassador Mohammed, a veteran foreign service officer, brings a wealth of experience to the NIA, having served in various roles, including as head of the Nigerian mission to Libya.

Adeola Ajayi, who has risen through the ranks of the DSS, has served as State Director in several states, including Bauchi, Enugu, and Rivers.

President Tinubu expects the new security chiefs to work together to address the country’s security challenges, including terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping.

The appointments are seen as a positive move towards enhancing the country’s security and intelligence gathering capabilities.
