President Bola Tinubu has dismissed Jalal Arabi as the Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) amidst allegations of N90 billion hajj subsidy fraud. Arabi’s removal comes as the president moves to tackle corruption and ensure transparency in government agencies.
In his place, President Tinubu has appointed Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman as the new Executive Chairman of NAHCON. Professor Usman is a distinguished academic with credentials from the University of Madinah and Peshawar University in Pakistan, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role.
The appointment takes immediate effect, with Professor Usman expected to lead the commission in organizing a successful and transparent hajj operation, free from the taint of corruption. The move is seen as a commitment by the president to restore public trust and ensure accountability in government agencies.
