A devastating accident occurred again yesterday at the Oko Olowo-Alapa junction axis in Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State, claiming the lives of a mother and her child.
Eyewitnesses reported that a trailer, which was traveling from the Ogidi area, suffered brake failure and lost control, fatally striking the victims, who were riding on a motorcycle.
The accident occurred at approximately 10:00 a.m. and was described as a “horrifying sight” by an eyewitness.
“The trailer was speeding down the road when it lost control and ran over the victims,” the eyewitness recounted. “The woman and her child were killed instantly, while the motorcycle rider miraculously escaped.”
Another eyewitness confirmed that the identities of the deceased were quickly established, and their family members were contacted.
The accident has sparked concerns among residents and commuters in the area, who are calling on authorities to take immediate measures to prevent further tragedies along the Okolowo Expressway.
This latest incident is the latest in a series of accidents on the expressway, prompting urgent calls for improved safety measures.
