The University of Ilorin’s Senate has conferred the esteemed title of Emeritus Professor on three retired academics, recognizing their outstanding contributions to the institution and their respective fields.
According to a statement by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, the Senate approved the appointments at its 304th meeting on Thursday. The honorees include:
Prof. Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede, a former Vice Chancellor of the University and the current Registrar and Chief Executive of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
Prof. Olu Obafemi, a renowned scholar of English and Dramatic Literature, who retired in 2020.
Prof. Musbau Akanji, a former two-time Vice Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, and Federal University of Technology, Minna, and a distinguished scholar of Biochemistry, who retired in 2021.
These distinguished scholars will henceforth be addressed as Emeritus Professors, in recognition of their enduring legacy and contributions to the academic community.
