The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has appointed Victor Giadom as its acting National Secretary. The immediate-past former National Secretary, Mala Buni, is the governor-elect of Yobe State.
Speaking on Giadom’s appointment, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Lanre Issa-Onilu, disclosed that Victor Giadom who is from Rivers State, would serve in acting capacity, pending when a replacement is nominated from Yobe State.
Giadom was the APC’s Deputy National Secretary before his new appointment as Acting National Secretary.
The Rivers-born politician has previously served as former chairman of Gokana Local Government Council, and subsequently as Commissioner for Works under the administration of former governor Rotimi Amaechi from 2011 to 2015.
He was also the APC’s deputy governorship candidate in the party’s truncated run for the 2019 governorship election in Rivers State.
The APC leadership also hailed the emergence of the Kebbi State Governor Abubakar Bagudu as the new Chairman of Progressives Governors’ Forum.
In its statement, the party said, “Bagudu’s unanimous election is well deserved. We note Bagudu’s achievements in the agricultural sector, particularly rice production in Kebbi State which is in line with the diversification agenda of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC administration.
“In line with the Progressives Governors’ Forum’s objectives of promoting good governance, ensuring developmental synergy across APC States and promoting the social democratic programmes of the APC, we are confident that under Bagudu’s leadership, the PGF will continue to contribute to the growth of our great party, promote our progressive ideals and support the President Buhari administration to continue to deliver on the promises made to the Nigerian people.”
