The Oluwo of Iwo land, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, was refused entry to the VIP area of the Eagle Square, venue of the ongoing
Democracy Day celebration in Abuja.
Security operatives dressed in plain clothes who were positioned at the VIP entrance of the Eagle Square, accused the Oluwo (a first class monarch) of possessing someone else’s invitation card.
Despite the monarch’s fierce protest, he was sent away from the entrance and ignored on the red carpet for 20 minutes.
The Oluwo was later allowed into the venue after the intervention of policemen and organisers, after which he was offered a seat on the same line with the Ooni of Ife and other invited Emirs.
