Unilorin students honour ‘Africa’s first Lecturer Hip-Hop Artiste’

The 2019 University of Ilorin Students’ Union Dinner and Award Night was a delight to remember with lots of takeaways from this year’s event.

Most notable of the highpoints, was the Award of Excellence given to Mr Isiaq Abdulwaheed Atanda (aka Lankotheory), a hip-hop artiste and lecturer in the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ilorin.

Mr Atanda, or Lankotheory as fondly called, is prominently regarded as the first lecturer hip-hop artiste in Africa.

Having bagged several awards within and outside the University of Ilorin for his contributions to music and education development in Nigeria, Lankotheory was honoured for his unmatched support for Unilorin students.

In his address, the famous lecturer thanked the students of the institution for the award, while pledging to continue his service to them and Nigerian students in general.

Also awarded on the night, was Ali Olaide of Social Works Department. Olaide earned two awards as Most Valuable Player and Highest Goal Scorer in the Unilorin Football League, with 18 goals from 12 matches.

The event witnessed performances by the star artiste of the night, Fireboy, who hinted on possible collaboration with Lankotheory in the nearest future.

The dinner which held at the multipurpose hall of Unilorin’s Faculty of Education, in the early hours of Sunday, also featured performances from Yinka of the popular OBT records as well as other artistes from Lagos and Ilorin.

  1. I have never seen a man as unique as lanko.i call him my role model because he has inspired me greatly.he is nice,has a heart of gold never stops making sure he produces great men and women.lanko is a legend
