Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the Federal High Court Abuja, has okayed the application filed by the Department of State Services (DSS), seeking the court’s permission to detain the Presidential Candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) and convener of #RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore for 45 days, pending the conclusion of its investigation.
The DSS, had earlier filed an ex-parte motion, citing Section 27 of the Terrorism Prevention Act, accusing the popular activist, Sowore, of engaging in acts of terrorism.
Among the exhibits tendered, were two digital video disks (DVD), which captured Sowore’s meeting with the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, and an interview where Sowore was said to have boasted that members of the proscribed Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) would join forces with him in bringing down the Nigerian government.
