Atiku suffers setback, as Supreme Court dismisses PDP’s appeal challenging Buhari

By Shola Abayomi.

The Supreme Court, on Tuesday, dismissed the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the February 23, presidential election, Atiku Abubakar.

The appeal marked SC/738/2019 was filed against a ruling of the presidential election petition tribunal which held that Atiku and the PDP do not have a reply to an application filed on May 14, 2019 by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The APC’s application had sought for a dismissal of their (Atiku and the PDP) petitions challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential election.

The ruling by the apex court was delivered by a five-man panel led by Justice Datijo Mohammed.

The appeal was struck out for having become statute barred.

More details as they come…
