Commissioner dies in sleep, seven months after husband’s death

The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Local Government Administration, Mrs Agatha Goma, has reportedly died in her sleep in Yenagoa, the state capital.

The 55-year-old commissioner, who died on Sunday, was said to have buried her husband seven months ago.

Mrs Goma was appointed as commissioner for Local Government Administration by Governor Seriake Dickson in 2016.

The deceased is currently being examined by a team of doctors to ascertain her cause of death.

A close associate to the late commissioner, identified as Victoria, expressed sadness over her demise.

She said, “We heard this evening that, one of our mothers in Bayelsa State. Pst. Mrs. Agatha Goma has gone to be with the lord.

“She was in the State Assembly and until her demise, was the commissioner for Local Government Administration.

“This is a very sad day for us all.”
