Court freezes ex-Zamfara governor’s accounts, shuts down companies

All is not well in the camp of the immediate past governor of Zamfara State, Abdul’aziz Yari, as the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) to freeze two bank accounts linked to him.

Justice Taiwo Taiwo, who delivered the ruling today, also ordered the seizure of two companies linked to the former governor, which were said to have engaged in shady deals at the detriment of Zamfara State.

The anti-graft agency had earlier filed an application praying the court to freeze the accounts which had funds in dollars and naira unto the tune of N24,289,910 and $669,248 be frozen by ICPC.

The former governor and others fingered as accomplices were summoned to appear in court on the adjourned date of September 11, to prove why the accounts should not be forfeited to the Federal Government.
