The Chief Press Secretary to Kano State governor, Abba Anwar, has revealed that Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and the Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammad Sanusi ll engaged in a dialogue meeting initiated by powerful Kano businessman, Alhaji Aliko Dangote and the Chairman of Nigeria’s Governors’ Forum, Kayode Fayemi in Abuja yesterday.

Mr Anwar also stated that Emir Sanusi utilized the opportunity to congratulate Governor Ganduje for his election victory for a second term in office, and both leaders urged the Muslim community to imbibe the good teachings and spirit of the Fasting period.

Reports from the Kano Emirate Council suggests that Emir Sanusi was accompanied to the meeting by many district heads.

Reacting to a 48-hours ultimatum given to the Emir by the state government to respond to allegations of misappropriation levelled against him by the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission, a senior member of the emirate council said the Emir is yet to respond to the query.

In response to the dialogue between the Emir and the State Governor, the chairman of the commission stated that the commission had no business with any dialogue.

“We do not care about any dialogue between the state government and the Emir, we are an independent body and we are doing our job professionally, what we are waiting for now is a response from the state government on our earlier recommendations of suspending the Emir, to pave way for investigation.

We heard that the state government has demanded an explanation from the emir; therefore, we are not part of any dialogue and our investigation is still ongoing.”
