A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Mallam Lukman Olayiwola Mustapha, has urged Muslims across the globe to imbibe the teachings of sacrifice and service to humanity, which the Eid-il-Adha celebration, according to him, is predicated upon.

In his Sallah message, the SOBI FM Chairman charged politicians to abide by the virtues of the season, which points to the importance of fulfilling promises and pledges wilfully entered into.

He enjoined the electorates to also play their part in fulfilling the essential civic responsibilities expected of them.

“The reason why we celebrate Eid-il-Adha goes beyond the symbolic slaughtering of ram, it is an undisguised pointer to the importance of promises and pledge, we all must imbibe the virtue of fulfilling pledges and promises willfully entered into.

“The political class especially must never renege on the electoral pact they signed with the electorates, while the electorates must also play their part through tax payment and other essential civic responsibilities expected of them.

“It is a thing of joy to note that the new government have so far demystified governance in Kwara State, by reintroducing the citizenship ownership mentality, wherein the average Kwaran now sees the government as its own, this is a major step forward from where we were coming from, where a thick mistrust existed between the government and the governed”, LOM stated.

He called on Kwarans to pray for God’s continued protection over the state and guidance for its leaders.
