FG says Nigeria will celebrate May 29, June 12 as public holidays

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Muhammed has said that both May 29 and June 12 will be celebrated as public holidays this year.

Speaking today (Monday) after a FEC meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osibajo, Muhammed said activities has been lined up for May 29 second term inauguration of President Muhammadu Buhari as well as the June 12 Democracy Day recently approved by the National Assembly as a public holiday.

The information minister also told reporters that most of the activities that should ordinarily take place on May 29 have now been moved to June 12.

While reiterating that the May 29 handover would be low key, Muhammed disclosed that world leaders and other foreign dignitaries will only attend the June 12 events.
