Unknown gunmen have killed the uncle of embattled lawmaker, Elisha Ishaku Abbo and abducted his nursing stepmother during a raid on his country home at the early hours of Saturday.
According to an eyewitness who narrated the incident to newsmen today, the gunmen invaded the family house of Senator Abbo in Muchalla ward of Mubi North Local Government Area of Adamawa State at 1am today and kidnapped his nursing stepmother, Madam Rifkatu Ishaku, who was delivered of a baby a week ago.
The witness further revealed that as the assailants made away with Madam Ishaku, Abbo’s uncle came out of his room and raised an alarm on sighting them.
”Immediately, the gunmen opened fire on him (the uncle), leading to his death, and they went away with the victim unchallenged,” the witness said.
Reacting to the incident, the Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, disclosed that the police had deployed officers to track down the perpetrators and rescue the victim.
“Our men from the IG rapid response team, in conjunction with men from anti-kidnapping unit, as well as men from homicide unit have been deployed in order to rescue and arrest the suspects”, he said.
Senator Abbo was recently arraigned at the Abuja Magistrate Court for assaulting a nursing mother at a sex toy shop in Abuja.
