Jonathan attended OIC meetings, Omokri cautions CAN

A former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri has rebuked the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, for criticizing President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Saudi Arabia to attend the summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC),
shortly after his inauguration.

The Christian body had earlier termed the President’s attendance as unconstitutional, arguing that Nigeria was “smuggled into the OIC by the military.”

CAN also berated the president for subtly promoting the alleged Islamisation agenda.

Omokri, responding to CAN’s claim in a tweet, disagreed with its criticism of the president.

He wrote: “It is wrong for CAN to condemn @MBuhari for attending Organisation of Islamic Cooperation meetings.

“Ex-President Jonathan is a Christian, but attended OIC meetings. I don’t like OIC. But I accept that Nigeria is multi-religious”, he said.

Nigeria joined the OIC in 1986.
