Kaduna: Community honours corps member with chieftaincy title for providing water

A 2018 Batch “B” corps member, Ferdinand Ochor, who served at the
Government Secondary School, Magamiya in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has been honored with a chieftaincy title by the Magamiya community for providing drinking water to the village after several years of lack.

The celebrated corps member, who initiated and completed the water project in the community, was conferred with the chieftaincy title of “Atuba Atyap”, which means “Friend of the people” by the Traditional ruler of Magamiya, the Gwatyap, Chief Dominic Yahaya, on Wednesday.

The Kaduna State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mallam Isa Wana, who spoke at the coronation, advised corps members to create positive impact wherever they served.

Mallam Wana, who was represented by the Assistant Director in-charge of Community Development Service, Mrs. Judith Idah, also cautioned corps members against changing/ rejecting their postings.

Ochor, while addressing reporters after the ceremony, explained that he initiated the borehole project to provide water for the people as part of his contribution to improve the standard of living of the Magamiya community.
