Some aggrieved leaders of the Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have rejected Governor Seyi Makinde’s 27-year-old commissioner-nominee, Seun Fakorede.
At yesterday’s screening of commissioner-nominees at the Oyo State House of Assembly, the party leaders who staged a protest, accused Seun Fakorede of being a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who worked against Governor Makinde’s victory in the last election.
The PDP chieftains, led by the senatorial chairman of Oyo South, Samuel Olawuwo lamented that the governor had promised to consult them before making any appointments, but failed to do so.
Olawuwo said: “When we voted, we thank God that we won at the state level.
“We won at the senatorial level. By the time we were campaigning about, the governor promised us that anytime he wanted to pick either the commissioner or any other office, he would consult us.
“But he didn’t do that when he wanted to pick Seun Fakorede.
“This man, whose son is now picked, is a staunch member of APC. We totally reject his nomination.”
The lawmakers, however confirmed other nominees sent by the governor.
In his reaction, Fakorede, noted that the issue was an internal matter that would be settled in due course.
