Former First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, has been ordered by a Federal High Court in Lagos to forfeit the sum of $8.4 million and N9.2 billion to the Federal Government.

According to Justice Mojisola Olatoregun who gave the order today, Madam Jonathan could not prove that the funds were legitimately acquired, hence, the reasonable assertion that they could be proceeds of crime.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had earlier filed an application praying the court to grant a permanent forfeiture of the money to the Federal Government, which the court granted today.
