Famous cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, prominently known as Bobrisky, on Saturday evaded arrest when operatives of the Nigeria police invaded the venue of his nude birthday party in the Lekki area of Lagos State.
Bobrisky, 28, who recently announced that he had cut off his penis, was reported to have absconded from the event centre to an unknown destination, following the arrest of five people by the police.
Reacting to the incident, the cross-dresser took to his social media handle to appreciate those who graced the scuttled event.
He wrote: “I’m a hard rock, nothing can break me. Love you all.
“I know it’s painful especially to those of you who travelled to Nigeria to celebrate me. Don’t worry, I got you all.”
The spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Bala Elkana, noted that the operatives acted on intelligence to seal the venues of the birthday party at Pearls Gardens in Lekki Phase 1 and Paradise Boat Club, Victoria Island where another party was scheduled to hold on Sunday (today).
He said: “The operation is currently ongoing. It is true that we have sealed up the venue of the party based on some intelligence.
“Considering the pedigree of the celebrant, the event may likely cause a breach of public peace and it is expected that no immoral display should be allowed.
“To augment security at each of the venues, ACPOL Area ‘A’ Lion Building/SUPOL Victoria Island mobilise 50 men to provide security at Club DNA, No 76 Adetokunbo Ademola Street, opposite Eko Hotel and Suite, Victoria Island and Paradise Boat Club, plot 8, Walter Carrington Crescent, Victoria Island.”
The Federal Government, through the Director-General, National Council for Arts and Culture, Otunba Olusegun had earlier threatened to deal with Bobrisky, describing him as a “national disgrace”.
“Bobrisky is a national disgrace. He started by selling and using bleaching creams, now, he has grown boobs, bums and hips”, the NCAC DG said.
Meanwhile, Nigerians on Twitter have condemned the invasion of Bobrisky’s birthday party, describing the action of the police as misplaced.

“Bobrisky has rights and that must be respected.”
“Somehow, in the middle of all our endless myriad of problems in this country, Bobrisky has become our government’s priority.”
“So I heard 100 policemen were deployed to Bobrisky’s birthday event centre. Is this where we’ve gotten to now, where there are criminals everywhere roaming freely but it’s someone’s birthday they’re after? Rubbish.”
“Nigeria will always be a joke. While motorists including students, legislators, judges and police themselves are being kidnapped, the force decided that the best use of FIFTY police officers today was to close down Bobrisky’s birthday party.”
“I live in a “country” where the “police” let men who rape 2-year-olds pay four figures and walk out the same day, but Bobrisky (a trans-woman who legally isn’t even breaking any laws) gets ambushed and arrested on her birthday. That’s my reality.”
“Instead of the Police to go to Buhari’s Katsina to fish out bandits.”
“Bobrisky is “risky”. Therefore, he/she is a national threat. The world is laughing at this theatre of the absurd.”
