UPDATE: Ganduje Ignores Court Orders, Installs Four New Emirs

Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje

By Umar Salam

Despite a Kano High Court order issued on Friday, May 10, 2019, by Justice Nasiru Saminu restraining Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State from proceeding with the installations of the four newly appointed emirs; the governor, in an obvious indifference to the court order, has gone ahead to inaugurate the four emirs.

The installation of the four newly appointed emirs, which took place at the Sani Abacha stadium yesterday (Saturday), is done in contravention of a subsisting court order which asks all parties in the matter to maintain status quo pending the determination of the motion on notice. The court judgement was in response to a suit instituted by one Hon. Sule Gwarzo challenging the new law creating the four additional emirates as passed by the Kano State House of Assembly and assented to by the State governor.
