Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State was conspicuously absent at today’s Eid prayer which held at the Ilorin Eid Praying Ground.
The governor, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Adisa Logun, at the event, has been criticized in recent times for his perceived hankering for trips outside the state.
As details of Governor Abdulrazaq’s whereabouts remain shrouded in uncertainty, rumors are rife that the governor may have observed his Sallah holiday in the United Kingdom.
The governor’s absence at today’s Eid prayer has generated a barrage of mixed reactions among Kwarans on social media, with many curious about his whereabouts.
According to a statement credited to the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor was absent at the Eid in Ilorin “because he wasn’t in the state.”
Ajakaye added that the governor was “on some other engagements outside the state.”
See some reactions from Kwarans:
“But please where is our governor? The Gov. was not at the Ilorin EID and wasn’t at the Emir’s palace for Sallah homage. I hope all is well. Has the Governor travelled for an official or personal assignment too important than to celebrate with his people? Engagement on festival day….. The Lord is good.”
“Don’t you agree the people’s Governor should have shared the merriment of the day with the people? What’s chasing the Governor? Or who’s chasing the Governor?”
“We see his pic every now and then reporting his location but this sudden disappearance is questionable.”
“Those who know AA wouldn’t be surprised at his actions or inactions, it’s well expected. AA was voted for good governance, as far as he’s giving that to me, I will just close my eyes to other things not so important to governance.”
“Let’s get this straight. It’s not a must he attends both Eid prayers and Durbar – they’re not under his mandate.”
“You all should know your Governor is a wonder man. He can do what u never expected him to do. Him not going to big eid should not be a surprise.”
