Zamfara State Assembly elects 31-year-old lawmaker as Speaker

The Zamfara State House of Assembly has elected its principal officers to lead the 9th Assembly.

Members of the House, yesterday, unanimously elected 31-year-old Nasiru Magarya from Zurmi Local Government Council as Speaker.

Mr Magarya, who is of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was endorsed by all the 23 members elected on the platform of the PDP and one member of the National Rescue Movement, NRM.

Also elected, was Mr Musa Musa from Tsafe East Constituency as the Deputy Speaker.

The session which held at the chamber of the State House of Assembly, was witnessed by the Zamfara State Governor, Bello Mutawalle; his deputy, Mahdi Gusau; the Chairman of the state chapter of the PDP, Alhaji Ibrahim Mallaha and a former deputy Governor of the state, Ibrahim Wakkala.
