Appeal Court sacks President Buhari’s ministerial nominee, replaces him

The Appeal Court sitting in Abuja, has sacked President Muhammadu Buhari’s minister-designate, Emeka Nwajiuba as the winner of the House of Representatives seat for Ehime Mbano /Obowo/Ihitte Uboma Federal Constituency of Imo State.

The court, in its ruling today declared Chike Okafor of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as legitimate winner of the election.

Mr Okafor was earlier declared winner and issued Certificate of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before his victory was upturned by the Federal High Court Abuja, who declared Nwajiuba of the Accord Party (AP) winner.

Recall that Hon. Emeka Nwajiuba announced his defection to the APC barely 24 hours after he was shortlisted by President Muhammadu Buhari as a ministerial nominee.
